Hi all, Re-joining after a break of many many years.. more than I can remember.
I was watching a few YT videos from Meteorite Men and saw them detecting...well needless to say it just re-ignited the passion !
Back then I has no real access to land, but today I have access to some acres so I'm tempted to get myself a detector.
You shall be seeing me on the forum ..
Cheers Raymo99

Cheers Paddy. I've already discovered the red dots map and my permission is completely clear thankfully. There is a single red dot two fields away, about 500 meters from the edge of my permission, identified as an 'enclosure'but no other details...
Would you think my permission is ok?

There's no clearly defined"safe distance" but 500m is a good bit and with two fields away, I'd say you're good to go.

Welcome glendalough, you are in the wrong place here can you make an introduction of yourself in the Say hello section and read the first post by Frank explaining how to introduce yourself and even more important go to the General Hobby Discussion section and again read Frank's first post on Archaeological Sensitive Areas, this will also answer your question. Also read the F A Q. section. You must read all of the above before you go hobby metal detecting, only looking for modern items for you to keep yourself within the law and always practice responsible metal detecting. good luck.

Thanks. I have read the above as requested and I now realise just how "green" I was.

Hi Glendalough, sorry I haven't been checking this part of the forum. Welcome by the way. I'm a newbie here myself.
