cheers guys I am detecting about 5 years I started off with the euro ace 350 then moved on to the at pro which I find very effective . one word of advice don't leave your detector in the back of your van like me and when i went use it last week I found the LCD screen cracked I contacted garrett and its going to cost over 250 sterling to replace it. it still works but on sound only and I don't know which settings its on so its hard to have any confidence in it. when I figure my way around the site I will post up some of my better finds.

Hi Shortcross, sorry to hear about your LCD screen on the At pro, thats crazy money to replace the LCD screen. You said no screen at all so you have nothing to by trying this but if you do then its at your own free will. Switch on the power and wait a couple of seconds then press the LCD screen gently in the center, if the screen doesn't respond then try center top or center bottom, if still nothing then try center right or left. The screen might work just enough for you to put in the mode of choice and then you can use it knowing what program you are in. LCD screens can come and go depending on the pressure point so if you find it then set it up as you feel best and use it as a sound only machine, after a hour or two you will master it. Best of luck.

Hi shortcross. That's a mad price for the repair work. Hope digger's advice works. He's a bit of a know-it-all, quite literally! There isn't a machine he doesn't know about. The sensitivity button can be adjusted high easily enough but when you can't see the discrim notches and the target identity it's a bit of a bummer.
