Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, I'm from tipp, never been metal detecting before, I know the rules about archaeological sites and metal detectors, I'm just interested in going to beaches, if anyone has any helpful info on what beaches you would get the least hassle on and what ones to avoid I'd be grateful of any advice 😊

Hi welcome to the forum. Mosty people don't give you any hassle some just want a chat. Now and then some lads get a crank but its rare enough. The odd time some nut calls the cops who don't have a clue about the metal detecting laws arrive on the beach mostly because they have to respond to a complaint. If you do a little research you will find almost all beaches are fine to detect. Fill in any holes you dig that looks good to the public and shows you care about others. I detect mostly beaches nobody so far has said anything bad to me...any problems just walk away.

Welcome ghosty. Tipp, big county. Are you north or south? You could try the sandy areas by the Shannon lakes if they're not private. Might be fairly untouched by detectorists. What md do you have, might need some advice on the machine as well. (PS. Get a pair of those reflective sunglasses, so the babes don't know you're watching)

Hi lads thanks for getting back to me and for the advice, I have a maplin Pro 1750 metal detector, I got it for €138 it was reduced from €345 as maplins is closing down, I'm not sure how good it is I have used it yet, its waterproof to 40 metres and detects to 20cm

Not aware of the model. I looked it up and it's a non-motion detector. Remember to keep a small bit of sound from it so you'll know it's optimally tuned. Have fun and be happy.
