Hi, my name is Sean, I live in Tipperary and after years of thinking and wanting I've just ordered my first detector. It's something I have a real interest in. Any tips going forward please feel free to comment.

Hi, after years of wanting a metal detector, my hubby gifted me one. It arrived today. I am so excited. I live in Co. Kildare and can’t wait to start this hobby. I am hopping for advice on where metal detecting is allowed. Would love to be able to snoop along the beach or in the woods/streams. Any advice is welcome.

I would think the likes of the curragh would be off limits. Don't think there would be much of a problem having a snoop along the beach or in the woods/streams. The holy grail of metal detecting is access to private land if you have it life in our world is all good. Access to private land is by permission only without permission you would be trespassing and breaking the law. All land in Ireland belongs to somebody you cannot access it without permission. If a building looks so old you want to detect around it then its best you don't and should not do it.
