Guys I'm devastated. I was recently sick and working from home. I had my engagement ring (which belonged to my granny before me) and my wedding ring on the desk beside me. Unfortunately I brushed everything off the table (food wrappers and tissues)into the bin without thinking of the rings. They bin truck has since collected the rubbish yesterday (Panda, based in south Dublin). Do you think there's any chance of me finding them?! Does anyone have advice? I don't know what to do or where to look for help, please help me. I am absolutely heartbroken.

Probably you need to contact "Panda" as soon as possible- they sort everything out on the conveyor!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately Panda don't answer their phones on Sundays! Have emailed them and will phone as soon as their lines open tomorrow morning. Hopefully it won't be too late!!

Thanks for your answer. It's black bin, not recycling. Trying Panda all day long and no answer. Opening hours on website are Mon to Fri. Praying they don't sort too much over the weekend!

Not to be a bearer of bad news, but that sounds like a very difficult find. As far as I know, the bags and content are "crushed" inside the trucks, and emptied on arrival at the dump.

Oh dear, very sorry to hear this. From a metal detecting point of view, it's not going to happen for many reasons, mainly the huge amount of rubbish collected, the amount of other metals and the fact that it's a refuse tip, very unhealthy environment. And we wouldn't be allowed on the site anyway for health and safety reasons.
Really hope you get lucky with Panda.

Thanks everyone who took the time to reply. Unfortunately no leads from Panda, looks like they're gone sadly Oh gosh, we all know how desperate it can be when we've lost something valuable or sentimental. Panic and fret. A few lads have endeavoured to find lost rings and jewellry for people over the years and haven't always been successful but for the lucky ones, you see the delight and gratitude. All I can say is we're sorry there wasn't much or anything practical we could do. Your gran (if she was still around) would understand that it was purely accidental. In advance, may we wish you a happy Christmas. As they say, your health is your wealth.
