Hi All, Having lost rings in my garden a few years ago, I bought a metal detector. I have spent hours in the garden getting waylaid with the fax-machine sounds from the detector.. it seems to ping and screech every few seconds, but when I'm told there is gold just a couple of inches down, I dig.. and nothing.
It's a Garrett Ace 150 detector.
It would be such a great pass time if the machine didn't lie so much 😆. Has anyone got any tips as to what I might be doing wrong 🤔

Thank you for the battery tip. Tell me, when you say it didn't work well, do you mean it would give false readings? Like too many false signals? Forgive my lack of lingo 😁

Probably lots of false signals from electricity wires around - try to lower sensitivity until detector is stable!

What a waste of money so 😒. Can anyone suggest a reliable model that's not too expensive?
