Welcome. Make a decision on land/beach or both, and you can then start looking at a detector. Some work better on beaches than others.

Welcome aboard Blue Bear.
As regards what type of detector you should get, that depends on how often you will use it. No point in getting a €900 machine and use it half a dozen times per year. Have a look at the Detectors for Sale section of the forum. Second-hand ones are as good as new models. Whereabouts in Co Tipp are you?

Think quite a few lads here have the nox 800, it has a great reputation so you can't go wrong there.
A pinpointer is very handy too, I just have a cheap 30 euro one from anazon, works great and I've abused it for a year now still going strong.
I've a silly mini shovel from screwfix, light enough to carry all day and grand for digging beach and field.
A finds pouch is handy for storing your finds and ring pulls and other rubbish too.
I got a hori knife for cutting small horseshoe hole in grass, good too for picking apart a sod in field.
Pinpointer, shovel/spade, finds pouch and detector should be plenty to get started!
Looking forward to seeing your finds!

As one of the lads said, a pinpointer is handy but, TBH, if you have the item out of the ground in a small pile of earth, just run a fistful at a time over the search coil until you hear it and gradually get rid of the earth bit by bit until you're left with it.
I use a pair of those surgical gloves under the ordinary outer pair, keeps the hand dry and clean. Even the outer gloves can get very wet and mucky this time of year and will leak through.

Just remember to take your ring/watch off before running your hand over the coil or you'll be serching the wrong pile 😂

thanks a million lads i appreciate the tips, just ordered the detector today should be here by friday looking forward to getting set up,i was panicking over the accessories stuff, wasted all my saving on the detector but as another user said i was told that the detector will do majority of the work for the time being,i was super happy to hear that coz im excited to get out an see what the landscape is hiding from us🙂,but thought the extra bits would hinder that for the time being so was a nice releif, but i defintly get the pin pointer, maybe after i get used to differnt sounds an what dectector is tellin me,i look forward to sharing the journey with ye lads an lasse's,thanks again for the wonderful advice its much appreciated🙏🙂

Hahaha not at all Blue, you 'invested'in the detector, not 'wasted'!! Exactly as above, you can just use detector for pinpointing. Pockets will store finds nicely and you can get any oul spade or shovel for digging.....the main thing is you spent well on a good detector!
