Hi! So I’ve lost my engagement ring, and don’t laugh but I’m 95% certain I lost it in my own back garden. I’m in mayo and just wondering if there was anyone local that could have a check for me. Or is there any reasonably priced detector that you would recommend I could get to try and search for it???

No problem he should able to email or message you now. Can I ask people looking for help for lost items and those giving help please make sure you are safe. Probably best to have a friend or family member with you and a mobile phone when you meet up with with each other. Avoid meeting up with people offering to help who are not regular posters on the forum also make sure somebody knows who where and when.

Good on you mm&eye, hopefully it’s a small area to concentrate on and grass is cut. Best of luck.

Well unfortunately This is not what I had hoped to be writing. No ring found. 3 and a half hr round trip, but would do this again If I thought I could help. A lovely and appreciated welcome awaited me. And I got started immediately.... first find, an old tin can lid (been there long before squishyduck) The area was deeply "busy" from years of building materials, long before squishyduck moved in. Had to turn down to 9 on the sensitivity and scanned for the same number as the wedding band, 13 on the Nox. Along with the engagement ring, squishyduck also lost her wedding band. This was found two days later on the path after hubby cut the grass. Assuming the lawnmower hit it out of the grass. Slight damage from the lawnmower. So I done a complete search of the entire area, twice. And the obvious path taken 3 times. Also did another garden area. Scanning the entire area. Beautiful yew tree in the garden I asked if I could check the lawnmower and turned it upside down and scrapped all possible areas of built up grass, then checked over with my pinpointer. Nothing So I can categorically state that it is not in the grassed area. Apart from two possible, places. Both of which I have shown to squishyduck. 1. Giving a solid, shallow 14 on the Nox 800 but the area when I pinpoint is about half a square meter. The pinpointer even on lowest level and screaming over the entire area. Possible corrugated iron or similair 2. In the corner where the grasscuttings are emptied. This corner has quite a few ferrous metals in it from bonfires. So would need to be sifted through after the metal objects have been removed. I've offered to go back if the area of bonfire is cleared and would happily do it. My best wishes to Squishyduck and your family, hope the Yew tree brings you luck and your ring back. Give me a call if you think that corner is cleared

I can’t thank mm&eye enough! Although he has said that unfortunately he had no luck finding my ring, I’m not one to only see the bad things... I got to meet a lovely friendly fella who not only took the time and patience from his day but he also explained a few things to me about metal detecting, and even listened as a jabbered on about anything and everything!! 😊😊😊 If the day comes that I manage to find my ring, I’ll let all you lovely people know

He's a decnt bloke in fairness. And I know how he feels, had a recent disappointment in trying to find a wedding ring. Two trips, no luck. First unsuccessful search for lost jewellry.
