Hi
I broke a rib surfing recently and I think detecting could be a nice way to spend time on the beach while I recover. I had a Minelab Excaliber years ago that I took out diving a couple of times and had detectors as a kid. I'm looking forward to trying it out again.
I'm on the look out for a mid level detector that operates well in shallow water and on wet sand.

Welcome John-D. I know the the Excalibur is a beast to swing but apparently its as good on the dry/wet sand as it is under water. That's if you're able to swing it with that rib.

Hey Johnd Fellow Rebel here too. Did you get a detector and get going? In east of the county myself if you happen to be in that area.. Could meet up if restrictions ever ease!🙄 Cheers.

Welcome along johnd. Recovery time can be a pain but gotta be done!! We've got used to restrictions so it's doable. I'd say read up on the activity but don't go swingin' a detector with a rib prob. Stay in touch using this forum to hold onto your mental health.
