No worries gisago51, the area is on long strand not far from the chipper at the far end of the beach. There is a line of rocks going out into the shallows wehn the tide is out and if you walk up to the sand from the last rock we were sitting about 20 metres to the right if you walk directly up from the last rock to the dry sand. Does that help?

Thanks gisago51. I lost it on Long Strand near the chipper at the far end of the strand if coming from Cork city. We were sitting around the middle part of the dry sand between the waters edge and the grass bank when the tide is in fully. I would say 100 metres in from where the grass bank starts. We were moving around our picnic blanket a bit but only around a 10 mtr radius. Hope that helps! Thanks a million

Mark, that certainly helps. I'd like to give as much help to find this ring. I will show up down there and give it a go sometime soon. Stay in touch with any developments and we can get a contact number closer to time.

Hi guys any update on this? I’m not close to Roscarbery (over an hour drive I’d say) but it be a good excuse for a road trip with the family when these restrictions are lifted!! Cheers D.

Hi all, Im hoping you might be able to help me with this. I lost my wedding ring on a beach in Cork on Monday evening. I was told a regular metal detector won’t work when i went to get one today.. Its made of platinum or palladium im not entirely sure, but it holds great sentimental value to me. Is anyone able to help me out? I would be extremely grateful. Thanks a million, Mark.

A friend lost his wedding ring last week. He asked on FB if any of his friends had a metal detector. I volunteered to go search for it on Saturday. He thought it would be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Of course, I was going to give it a go anyway! As it turned out, another friend with a metal detector got there before me. He successfully located the ring and it’s now back on my mates finger. Another happy ending.
