Hi there from Canada. My daughter lives in Dublin now so I have a reason to come over to detect and fly fish.
Regards

Hi Ian, Welcome to the forum make sure you read the rules about detecting in Ireland or you might also find a new home here. Welcome and enjoy the forum. Frank Hi Frank
I heard the food isn't that good when they lock you up. I am looking for some guidance here. I am bringing my GT2500 and would love to team up with someone who can keep me out of jail. I have terminal cancer so this next trip could be my last and would like to make it a good one.
Thanks for any help

Sorry to hear that drifter84,
What you need to do is get on some farmland unfortunately I don't have any permissions as I mostly do beach detecting when I can get out. I am sure one of the lads on the forum with permission might be able to help you out. By the way you are not alone on the forum we have a number of members with serious health issues who enjoy the pace of metal detecting. It's also one of the reasons why I pursue our politicians relentlessly to make change happen. This a great hobby for everybody for all kinds of reasons. Now that you have put your call out for a little help we can only hope somebody sorts something for you. Again enjoy your stay in Ireland.
Frank

Thanks Frank
Not sure when we are coming over but it will be around last week in April for a month, my grandson has his confirmation so we are coming for that.
If someone can join me for a day while I am there, land or beaches are fine with me and I sure would appreciate any help. I am experienced with land and water hunting here in Canada, sure it is the same in Ireland.
Thanks
Ian

Hi Drifter, I will go with you to detect on the beaches, I don't have any land permissions yet. Also, you might need a fishing rod license for the rivers here.
