Would that minelab be as good as a makro racer 2?

Can't say as have never used the racer, although I've heard that's a good machine as well 😉

Swanie, I have an Explorer SE, similar to the II. Both quite similar. Can't fault the Explorer. Like Dave2, I've not used Makro before but the Explorer for that price is VG value.

Ive the racer 2, love it.. Still learning some settings but doin well with it.. picks the little deep finds no problems.. But ive never used a minelab so I cant compare.. but they are leading machines.. Its down to preference and where and how you'd use it..

Price drop, €350 which will make someone very happy I'm sure. Won't take too long to get that back with all the finds 😉

Where are you based? I'm interested in starting up with the hobby and it looks like a decent machine to start with

Hi Ian, I'm based in Dublin, where abouts are you? It's a fantastic machine for starting off with, also one that if you like the hobby it will serve well for a long time, won't need to upgrade too quick.

I'm based in Dublin too - around Castleknock, for the moment. I'm moving house currently, so in and out of Dublin. I'd be around Monday to meet somewhere. Maybe we can continue in PM?

I've the Explorer SE (the Ex 2's younger sister) and I've no intention of changing it. Ian F Hunter, once you get used to the Explorer, it will become your one and only.
