Hey all,
New member here from Mayo, love the forum already Have always wanted to get a metal detector but held off for whatever reason, recently found a roman coin on the surface by chance so bit the bullet and my metal detector should arrive in a week or two. Its an Intey pinpoint metal detector i ordered from amazon, if i love this hobby as much as i think i will i will soon upgrade to a garrett ace 250 maybe(seems like a good one for my kind of price range) and give this one to my son. Anyone tell me if this one will be any good? Many fellow members here in the Mayo region? Look forward to adding a few finds here and getting in on the craic Thanks for having me folks
Hoping to get out quiet a lot with it when i get it, think i have caught the bug already lol

When I was shopping for my (first) detector, I knew I would always be wanting the better one so I saved up the extra few weeks and got the one I would have eventually upgraded to in the end, the Makro Racer 2.
Of course they are a bit cheaper now, and there are better ones out, but I'm happy with it for a long time yet.
At least you have a detector for the time being, still time to shop around for the "ideal" one if you like the hobby. Remember to look around you tube for reviews and stuff.

If you can save the money, go for a Garrett Ace400i. Most up-to-date of the mid range Garrett's. Or keep an eye out in the "For Sale" section here or "Adverts.ie" There are some good detectors for sale second hand.

Thanks Paddyspurs, appreciate that, i must keep an eye out on the for sale section, are second hand detectors usually good quality? Yes, in fact most 2nd hand ones are for sale because the sellers are either upgrading (such as the arrival of the Minelab Equinox) or they're selling because they don't have the time any more to detect due to work commitments, etc. If you are looking at one or two models for sale don't be afraid to ask member's for advice on them. The ones on sale here on the forum's "For Sale" section would be 100%. Some ones for sale on Adverts are pure crap but then again ask us before you buy. Put your questions in the "General Discussion"section. [PS. I was advised (and good advice too) to AVOID Gumtree]
