Hi All,
My name is Bino. I'm originally from the North, but living in South Dublin now for 18 years.
I had YouTube on my Chromecast in the kitchen, just playing random stuff, when I saw a guy using a metal detector...I got interested. Then started searching metal detecting in Ireland.... Fascinating I thought.
I checked wish.com for metal detectors...I don't know what is a good model or a good spec....anyways, I will buy one and see. Nice to see this site with other hunters.
Cheers,
Bino

Welcome to the forum bino!
Don't buy a detector without getting advice from the people on the forum they can point you in the right direction where to buy and what to buy depending on your needs and budget.

Hi Frank,
Much appreciated. I will search the forum on brands, frequency for metals. Ideally I would like to use it in the South Dublin, North Wicklow area on the beaches. But I have to find out as well if I am allowed to use a detector in Bray, Killing beaches.
Cheers Frank,
Bino

Hi Bino. Welcome. If you want to stay interested in the hobby, don't buy one of the Wish.com detectors. Have a look at the "Detectors for Sale" section. A decent second hand starter unit would be your best option. Garrett 250 or EuroAce, Fisher F4, etc. All would be good machines. And there's usually not a lot to go wrong with them. Set a budget of €180 to 250 and haggle. If you're loaded, go for a Minelab Equinox, apparently they're the bees knees. Try adverts.ie as well. Ask again if you've found an ad and want assistance. And enjoy.

Bino.. think the lads have it covered.. do your research and ask the questions.. but the garrett machines would be a good start.. If you get going shout and some members in your area would probably meet once you start posting some images of your efforts..good or bad and thats the hobby.. Hints and tips will always be available once you get up and running..
Good luck with it..

Thanks Solo. I can't wait to get started properly. Greystones is a good little beach..I've done it twice and the best think is the lights from the prom mean you can keep going after dark.

Hi Solo, I'd say Bray would be a good find spot after the big airshow at the weekend. Someone was bound to lose the engine of their car 😂😂😂
