Based in Limerick, recently got into this as a hobby, not much finds wise. I've been using an old detector my grandfather had years back, any tips on a good starter model to upgrade to. More interested in the walk outside than stumbling on a find. Lots of heritage sites in the area so making sure to keep well away.

Welcome to the site Paul, all depends on budget tbh! Buy the best detector you can afford.

Yep I've and X-Terra Pro I'm looking to sell. Comes with wireless headphones too. I've only had it out 5 or 6 times. I bought it to try out the hobby and upgraded to the XP Deus 2 shortly after. It's a beast! I brought out a friend detecting recently and he used it while I used the Deus 2. It picked up everything the Deus did no problem. He ended up digging more iron but that might have been inexperience. The target IDs jump around a lot more compared to the Deus but you can still figure out if it's big iron most times.
