Hello all, I'm Dublin based and planning to get an Equinox 800, I don't want to buy twice so I'm thinking it's better to get a decent multi tasker straight away.
Has anyone gone gold prospecting with a metal detector in the known hot spots? Is this a realistic prospect in Ireland? Would the Equinox 800 be any use for this?
Also, what's the story if a nosey type or Garda question you on the detecting, I know heritage and archaeological sites are out of bounds but I'd be planning on hitting the beaches around Dublin or local fields etc. Just for the Euro coins and bits like that, maybe the odd lost ring. It's more an excuse to get out and about in nature.
Appreciate any knowledge shared, thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Loads of us in Dublin area. Many of us use the nox 800. Great machine. Can do most things including prospecting. Very few of us do that, but some has. The finds on the beaches are more scarcely found these days, but still things to be found. Today I found a Victoria sixpence..very few coins, mostly rubbish (aluminium, pull tabs, bottle tops, and other bits of rubbish) but you ll get the odd modern coin etc.. it won't make you rich, but you should recover the cost of the detector...(within a few yearsππ)
