I'm a novice compared to some of the lads on here but I started out detecting way back in the late 70s as a youngster. . Chat again sometime.

Well lads, I started college back in September and to be honest I hadn't been on the forum since before then so I missed out on all the goings on - I'd appreciate it if someone would give me a brief rundown! I found my way here but had to create a new account whilst keeping my old username, fair play to the admin for volunteering their time for the cause.
I'm based in North Tipp and will have lots of free time over the Christmas so I might hit my first ever beach. I have been both detecting fields and coin hunting on modern areas since I got my first detector in March of this year, the Garrett Ace 250. Some people say the Ace 250 doesn't perform well on beaches so any advice regarding that is greatly appreciated.
I hope all the familiar usernames make their way over here, I'd agree with the guys in the shout-box who are requesting a tab at the top of the forum - " unread forum posts ". Thanks again lads, hope for a few replies!

Hi from Norwaydigger. As you might guess I am originally from Norway, and I only took up metal detecting this year as I got hooked on all these treasure hunting programs on tv. I am 41 years old, and I thought it was "now or never" to get involved in the hobby. I bought a cheap Seben Deep Target detector, and I am still using it. Ok, I will upgrade shortly, but it has served me well so far, and I am hooked on the hobby. I am in North County Dublin, and I have met a couple of lads around here. Gruby 87 and Zigster. Hopefully all familiar names will make it over here too..
